The Club

The Brow Golf Club at Welsh Frankton sits alongside the A495 from Ellesmere to Oswestry. Opened in 1995 by founder the late Alf Strange, author, blacksmith and golfer, The Brow is a picturesque 9 hole golf course set in the rolling countryside in North Shropshire, close to the Welsh Border.
We have a fully licensed clubhouse bar and catering facilities with a reputation for good food. We host many functions for members, visitors, local clubs, companies and societies.
The Brow has an active and varied membership, but also attracts thousands of visitors each year with it’s competitive prices and flexible packages for groups and society bookings.
The owners, Alan and Catherine Strange provide an ideal combination to run a successful golf club. Alan, a former Welsh International and Midland Professional Champion has been a fully qualified PGA member for over 20 years. Catherine is an experienced Chef, having worked in various hotels in Shropshire.
The Club is truly a family run business with Alan’s mother Vera assisting in the clubhouse and Jack Strange, Alan’s uncle, although in his eighties, often to be seen most days helping out on the course. The latest generation of the family, David, aged 17, is the assistant  green-keeper. David is also studying Sports Turf & Green-Keeping on one day per week at Reaseheath College, near Nantwich.
